I'm not trying to be funny or clever. I'm not writing a book. I'm just writing. This is my space to let off steam about all the ad hoc stuff that I find interesting. As a mum to kids with special needs, it seems logical to try and raise awareness of what that is actually like, and the triumphs and troughs along the way.
Separated and living in Dublin with my three children. My two brothers live in Wales and we visit them fairly regularly. Job-hunting for the past three years. Possibly a drama queen.
Angel is my lovely 19 year old who more than anyone else has got me through with her love and support. Our relationship has survived the teen years, family life with two special needs siblings, an awful marriage breakdown, having money, not having money, and other stuff I can't think of right now.
Sadly she doesn't like me taking her photograph, and nor does her brother. This was taken on the boat to Wales.
Aspie Boy (aka CD) is my 10 year with Asperger's Syndrome. I love him so much but his difficulties regularly break my heart.
Smiley is 15 and has severe physical and intellectual disabilities, and a diagnosis of cerebral palsy and something else not yet identified, but she is beautiful, lively, responsive and the happiest child you will ever meet. Her start in life could not have been more difficult, and she still can't walk or talk and struggles with toilet training. But every morning she opens her eyes with a big smile for me and I just melt :)

ReplyDeleteyou should maybe rethink writing - you have a way with words and i think there is more than one good book waiting to be created - you've made a good start with your blog .. a bit like your recent hike .. maybe you didn't think you had it in you to travel so far - but you've got one stage of the wicklow way under your belt ..
ReplyDeleteHello fellow 'good friday' walker and thank you for your lovely comment. I'm not sure that I have the patience to write a book: and I think I might find it a lonely occupation. Blogging is not like that :)
